I read a couple of updates past that barcode support was going to be included in the next release of the app. Has this been scrapped or do we get an ETA for release?

that would be a real gain

I would spend a few dollars (or something similar ;) ) if shopper would support barcode scan

I could live check my items in a store and also check if receipt is correct...

would be great if receipt could be archived...

are these functions implementable???

greetings chewy

Hi everybody,

The next release will bring you a barcode scanning feature. It will allow you to scan items or simply enter a UPC code. This will be available in the next two weeks, or should I say the next release that comes out! :)

I want to add barcode info to my products, so I only need to scan this code for the next shopping ... could be great feature to check the cashier's bill. please add this feature , with that it would be a little bit better

Agreed. As posted elsewhere today, I'd like to see the barcode scanning functionality enabled for all locations not just US. In Shopper 8, you get teased because as the app loads all options are shown on the home screen before it customises. So in the UK, I see a couple of other options briefly, including Scanner, before it vanishes along with another option.

I'd like the facility to "assign" a barcode to a product in my list so next time I'm running low and want to add to list, I can leave the empties on one side of the table and then quickly scan all the barcodes and have them automatically added to my shopping list instead of having to manually search and add them.

Can I add another vote for barcode support in Europe - I can't understand why it isn't available. Even if you haven't got a european database for lookups it would be really useful just to be able to add your own items for and associate them with a barcode.

Please !

Barcodes are ok, but not a panacea.

If an item is not a mainstream item, it's not going to scan. Most of my shopping yesterday didn't come up because it's all from Trader Joe's.

Barcodes are shared and you can scan an item and get a totally different item listed: A nice bottle of Italian wine came up as a Muppets 30 Piece Chess Set.

There is no way for me to enter a Trader Joe's item in my phone and make the information available to other Trader Joe's shoppers so my barcodes mean nothing.

It's a feature I've tried and don't really see it as the main reason for liking the app. I can take it or leave it in regards to barcodes.

I get the feel us Eurpoeans aren't too fussed about the ability to scan barcodes and have Shopper recognise the item etc. It would be cool and useful but I think many of us would just like the ability to manually enter a barcode to an existing item in the list to enable us to quickly add it when needed.

So, for example, I manually associate the barcode for Heinz Baked Beans with the entry already on my list. In future, I can quickly scan the can before I throw it away rather than manually searching for the item and adding it. If this feature can be replicated several times over it would represent a significant time saving in adding items although I appreciate bar codes are item specific.

Come on folks..let's have some statement from the developers as to barcode support outside of the US. There's posts on this forum dating back to November/December saying non-US barcode support "might be added soon". An update on this would be good now.
